Austin Pagan Pride Day 2008

The Event


Invitation

What:  Austin Pagan Pride Day is a celebration of the pagan community and a chance share our prosperity. Please come, bring a picnic lunch and a blanket. Many of the entertainers from 2007 have expressed an interest in returning, so it will be a great party!
When:  October 4, 2008
Where:  Wooldridge Square Park, 900 Guadalupe, Austin, Texas
Admission:  free with a caned food donation or a suggested donation of $2

Music and Entertainment

The following musicians plan to perform:

  • Jo Beth Henderson is Bellafeather. Bellafeather's music is "Progressive Folk Art Rock" with influences in jazz, folk rock, classical, and the avant-garde.
  • Two Feathers Ghostwood plays Native American flute and other instruments.
  • Slyther high-energy rock n' roll, with a heaping side of strong melodies. He was frontman for Call the Circle, which has disbanded.
  • Wyrdgrl is a rich tapestry of tales between myth and perception woven by singer-songwriter Dana Davis.
  • The two guitar players from Linton Mancilla play acoustic rock.
  • The Nematoads, a trippy, twangy, five-piece modern surf band from Austin, straddle the line between ´60s retro cool and tall-in-the-saddle Tejas twang.
  • Velvet Brick plays rock, classic rock, and metal.
  • Bright Shadow is a Progressive alternative rock band. Our basic message is to take care of each other and this planet we live on.

Other entertainment will include Typsy Gypsies belly dancers.

A drum circle will start sometime after 6pm. If you are interested in being drum circle coordinator, contact , Music Coordinator.

Rituals

Rituals will be performed by:

  • Trust of the Sacred Moon
  • Live Oak Local Council of the Covenant of the Goddess (COG), is an international organization of cooperating, autonomous Wiccan congregations and solo practitioners
  • Heathens

Information Tables

We are also looking for organizations and groups around town to set up tables to meet-'n-greet and tell what you are about. We're very excited about working with the great variety of groups around town and showing everyone how unique Austin's pagan community is. For more information, see the Information Table page.

Children's Activities

of the Salamander Circle, SpiralScouts International will coordinate a children's area with activities.

Wooldridge Square Park

Wooldridge Square is a natural amphitheater in downtown Austin located at 900 Guadalupe between the Courthouse and the Austin History Center. For more information:

Food

Picnic baskets are encouraged. Please observe park rule such as no glass, no knives, no alcohol. For more information:

Dogs

Children will be playing in the park, so dogs must be well socialized and leashed. Owners will scoop poop and comply with park rules. For more information:

  • Austin leash ordinance requires dogs to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet on all City land.
  • Scoop the Poop: Dogs for the Environment reminds you to pick up after your pets. It helps keep parks clean and improves water quality in Austin's creeks.
